The judging process

One of the great things about Britain’s Best Loaf is the exciting live and open judging, which takes place on Monday 30 March 2020 at the Foodex, NEC Birmingham.

All entrants are required to register on the day and deliver samples of their products to the Britain’s Best Loaf competition area at the show. After leaving their loaves for judging, participants are welcome to access all areas of the Foodex, NEC for free, while tentatively waiting for the Britain’s Best Loaf winners to be announced the same day.

Our panel of expert judges sample and test each loaf live on-site, assessing them on the following criteria: external appearance, internal structure, aroma and taste. The judges divide into teams to score the entries in each category, then come back together to collectively choose their winner and highly commended in each class.

All winners will be announced at the Foodex, NEC Birmingham on Monday 30 March 2020. This means winners will gain instant success, and don’t have to wait around for weeks to know the results.
